UNQUOTE
___________
I could have made a list of quotes by gifted Beings for days, advocating a still, quiescent and intuitive mind.
Clearly, taking no thought - literally not thinking but being mentally, meditatively still as one intuitively moves throughout life, is clearly a shared principle and state of being advocated and practiced by all different factions of our society irrespective of culture or creed.
Just as clearly seen is the many different pathways this state of being - this state of no-mind is arrived at and shared. Christianity, Buddhism, Science, Zen, Krishna, a mixture of all or none, or even just dancing to the beat of your own drum - all lead or give way to an intuitively meditative state of existence that raises or expands our conscious awareness from the personal to the impersonal - the true essence of our being. Our true reality in which the consciousness of mind knows itself as the true and eternal consciousness of Spirit.
In order for the mind to be still it must cease taking thought. And what are you without thought? Nothing! At least nothing personal. You are instead life living itself.
Your whole personal story - your whole sense of self relies on thought. All of it. Everything. Memories, dreams, hates, likes, beliefs, values, morals, everything and everyone you think about in relation to the past or the future.
So paradoxically, in order to become everything, you must become nothing. No one. You have to raise the personal sense of self to the impersonal sense of self by keeping the mind still and empty of thought. Literally Being (another word for meditate) in the moment. You have to surrender it all. Your identity as a personal Self must die to be born again of the Impersonal.
An active mind is the only thing standing between you and the realization of your true Self. You cannot realize your truth nor know all the answers to your questions with a thinking mind. Only the Being mind can awaken.
