Reject all thoughts and feelings that your mind creates from habit and focus only on the silence within as if you are waiting for a message to come through it, while being as fully present in and as the moment as much as you can be. Combine these seemingly two acts as one seamless state of Being. Let your heart be open like a small child's - innocently waiting for guidance and direction from the Silence that is the synchronicity and serendipity of the moment.
This is keeping your Conscious Mind (I) which you use to think with in your heart Aka Subconscious or Soul (Am) that is deliberately open and loving. This Mind or Being is called the Christ, Buddha or Krishna mind and it is the right mind for realizing the Supreme Self that unconsciously moves us all.
When the attention of your Conscious Mind is busy listening to this inner Silence, it cannot create thought any more than you can talk and listen at the same time. Thoughts may still come to Mind from the Ether where all world thoughts collective rise in, however, if you are focused on listening and being in the moment, they should not hinder you much at all.
Remember every thought you have defiles the Subconscious Aka Human Temple o Soul adding yet another filter to defuse the purity of Light shining through it to bless the world. Any thought taken o created by Mind Consciousness unconscious of itself as Spiritual Consciousness (The unrealized) is a false image that in turn creates suffering and abominations in the physical.
Be still and know that I am God (Psalms 46:10) translates to 'Be still mentally (Mind - I am) and know the (Spiritual - 'I AM’) Supreme Self. Grace is conscious realization of being 'I am that I am'. In an Egoic state one only knows the Mind's 'I am' while unconscious of the 'I AM" of Spirit.
The mind when still will become a pure reflection of the Supreme Self. When the Mind is active with Conscious Thoughts defiling the Subconscious Aka Human Soul or Temple, these thoughts delay, destroy and distort the pure Light of Thy True Self as the Supreme Self in and of Spirit.
At the end of the day, when all is said and done, your success is dependent on how interested you are in your thoughts compared to how much you want to realize your true and eternal Self.
