The difference between imagining a vase of flowers and actually experiencing them is the difference between maya and reality. Imagining flowers have nothing to do with reality - they are an idea of reality - not reality itself. Experiencing said flowers, is reality. Can you see the difference? Being able to is the difference between sleeping and waking consciously.
Your presence - your attention as the Lamp of the world, is caught up in two different places - one place is your head - in your thoughts, and the other is reality Aka Soul or the Present Moment. Please - never mistake the two.
You as the Lamp of the world, give life to whatever you are conscious of, whatever you hold within yourself as true. That being said, where are you consciously? Where is heartfelt attention? What exactly are you giving life to by virtue of your Presence? Are in your head - giving life to false images created by Mind Consciousness unconscious of itself as Spiritual Consciousness? Cut off from its Source, like a branch from the vine?
Or are you in the Present Moment experiencing the flowers, embodying the Now, giving life to your soul guided by the One true Soul governed by Spiritual Consciousness. This right here is Grace. Grace is a multidimensional alignment of all aspects of our Being living from the inside out. Spiritual Consciousness (I) > Soul Awareness (AM) > Subconscious Aka Human Soul (Am) < Mind Consciousness Aka Lamp of the World (I)
Expressed as I am that I am. I am Spirit/Soul that I am Conscious/Subconscious Mind.
“You are the light of the world (Mind Consciousness). A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden (Physicality). Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket (Ego), but on a lampstand (Grace or alignment), and it gives light to all who are in the house (Subconscious). Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven (Spiritual Consciousness). - Matthew 5:14
*Note - Son always refers to Mind Consciousness (Omega) while the Father always refers to Spiritual Consciousness (Alpha). You are both.
Clearly, when we consider our own lives, the reality of the moment IS what we prefer. However, you wouldn't think so the way stayed out of the moment and in our heads/imagination/thoughts so much.
If you are present in your thoughts, then you are absent from the moment. Consider this and you will see that it is true.
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon" - Matthew 6:24
Therefore, keep your mind focused on the moment and all within it. The practice of keeping the mind focused will starve off other thoughts as well as the need to rise in thought. Like listening to someone intently, you block out other disturbances until they are not heard or bothering you anymore. Every time the mind strays from the Present Moment by dividing itself into two or more thoughts, bring it back to the Moment as ONE thought of Awareness so that the I of Spiritual Consciousness can shine through I of Mind Consciousness, aligning all aspects of our being under and as Grace.
"The light of the body is the eye (I): if therefore thine eye (I) be single, thy whole body shall be full of light." - Matthew 6:22
When we lost our natural meditative state as children we went from the being mind, that lived intuitively revealing life, to the thinking mind, that led and created life itself. This created a resistance between the illusionary MY self and the reality of the true Self in the same way a wave would try to go against the natural current of the sea by developing a current (Will) of its own, through forgetting it was the Sea by identifying as a wave only. It was then, in our early childhood that life and all its richness seemed to dull for us, lose its shine, become less vibrant, less alive somehow. This dullness of life, where all the colours and smells etc became less vibrant is not your imagination. Many others experienced this aspect of lost childhood and will tell you so.
"I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 18
*Note - the kingdom of heaven is the Self-Realizes state of Being.
As we have already established earlier, thinking is by no means as rich and rewarding as the present moment of being. Thinking of what something smells like is not the same as actually smelling it. Imagine smelling a rose. Then actually smell it. One is your imagination aka Maya (Mind Consciousness) and the other is Reality (Spiritual Consciousness)
Therefore, if you want life to regain its magic like when you were a child the most beneficial practice you could do for yourself is being in the moment. No more than that! Being the moment itself. Being in the moment speaks of duality, doesn't it? There is you (1) being in the Moment (2). This is not Reality. BE the moment. You do not have a life - you ARE Life. You are not a wave in the sea, you are the Sea waving. This is reality. Now become conscious of reality by staying out of your head and in the moment.
Bring as much presence aka consciousness, as you can to being now as you can. With all your heart (Subconscious), and with all your soul (The true Soul), and with all your mind (The Lamp of the body- the I) and with all your strength (Wisdom gained within your own evolution from rising and falling within and as the One.
