Instead of reaching or that cupcake, that joint, that line, that phone, that anything that takes you away from what is uncomfortable in you. Rather than repressing the pain that does hinder you by distraction - sit with it.
If you sit with it you will find out why you reach for your calm in a bottle or a line or smoke or whatever. Once you learn what it is you can deal with it and let it go. It will no longer haunt you, causing you to find your peace in the outside work and all its objects.
